AUXILIARY
Fort Myers Beach American Legion Auxiliary Unit 274 hosted their first “50’s Steak ‘n Shake Fundraiser” on August 21st and plans are in the works to make it an annual event. Fun games and prizes--Hot Rod Races, Toilet Paper Relays, and a “Stay-at-the-Beach” Raffle (donated by Matanza’s Inn)--kept everyone laughing and having a great time! Cooked-to-order steak dinners were served and dancers really “shook it up” at The Harry Boyle Show.
On August 22nd, the Auxiliary presented a Classic Car Show from noon to 3:00 p.m. Fortunately for the car owners, the rains held off until the end of the event. First-prize winner was a beautiful 1950 Ford and second prize went to an antique Fort Myers Police Car. An afternoon of music and dancing was provided by the Naples group “Sanctum.”
Proceeds from the fundraisers are used to further the Auxiliary’s ongoing commitment to provide for our Veterans, their families, and the youth charities of our community. For more information about American Legion Post 274, please visit the web site: www.post274.org or call 239-463-6591.
